Hi,

Going back to mGalaxy after a couple of years, I was a Premium user once.

As per the post subject, mGalaxy (10.1) gets stuck at loading screen.

I tried all that is suggested:

-Cleared the App/Roaming folder
-Run the program(s) as Administrator
-Set the mGalaxy folder out of Defender virus checking
-DId a fresh install on an external HD

None of those - alone or combined - work :(

Any suggestions?

I'd like to be a Premium user again, if mGalaxy gets back to work.

Thank you in advance for your help,

Gianluca

PS: When creating a database in Runway, no snap previews are shown, although snaps folders are properly set and Show Preview is enabled

I gather you're talking about mGalaxy itself, since you then ask a question about Runway (which seems to be working).
  1. My first guess is that you're trying to run mGalaxy on an older system—and not in 64-bit mode! Is that the case?
  2. Regarding media display: You do know, don't you, that first and foremost you have to create the ROM database? ‘DB UPDATE’ tab > ROMS > Update

Hi,

Thank you for your reply!

As for your questions:

1) I'm on Windows 10 Home 64-bit, so I don't think this is due to the system.

2) Yes, of course I know. And, after creating the ROM database, when database is updated, although paths for media files are already set, no thumbnails are shown when creating the DB.

Thank you for your further suggestions!

1. Where did you install mGalaxy? Is it installed in the Program Files folder? If so, install it outside of that folder—for example, in “My Documents.”
2. So, after creating the ROM database, did you receive any error messages, and can you see the game names listed in “DB Edit”?
2b. Are the media names exactly the same as the ROM names?

3. Send me the logs for mGalaxy and mGalaxy_Runway located in:
C:\Users\<your user name>\AppData\LocalLow\mGalaxy\mGalaxy_Runway
and
C:\Users\<your user name>\AppData\LocalLow\mGalaxy\mGalaxy

Hi,

Thank you again for your efforts!

1) Done! In my tries I always installed mGalaxy out of Program Files folder - also tried in an external HD.

2) I did a try with Stella and a proper Atari 2600 files set. No error messages after checking the roms. A "Database saved!" notification pops up. I cannot enter DB Edit since the tag is disabled for Standard users - I guess.
As long as I try to update the Media, once pressed "Update all games" a message "Please select a valid path" is shown - but paths are valid (see attachment)

2b) Yes!

3) Attached!

Look forward to hear from you, thanks!

Wait a minute! If you don't have the license, you really can't access “DB Edit”... so it's normal that you don't see those items! So let's set that aside for now... because, yes, you really can't view the media for each game if you don't have the Premium license.

To check if the ROM database has been created correctly, open the system folder (mGalaxy > Data > User > “name of your system”)...and look for a file called ‘xmlout.xml’.
When you open it with a text editor, you should see a list of games.
Is that the case?
