You don't tell which emu system you're working with.
The filters in this menu window mainly apply to MAME games and is a quick way for switching on/off groups of MAME game genres!

What you're asking for would request to work in mGalaxy_Runway > DB EDIT tab
First, generate a DB for the system (it could be a 'Simple' database (I mean a DB which essentially create a list of your roms:  'DB Create' tab > choose 'None' in 'Server' drop-down menu)
Once done, goto the 'DB Edit' tab, select* the game/group of games you want to hide in mGalaxy and click on the 'Close eye' icon
Remember to save when finished!

Launch mGalaxy...those hidden games won't be listed anymore!

* as with every windows app, the use of 'shift' and/or 'ctrl' will highly help you in your selection task (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wX6cMrdjV8g)

How to hide systems, bios, etc. AND several, specific roms?

A search on the forum shows many responses saying the same about using the filter in preferences,
but when I go to it, the only filters are:
SHOW: Available Roms, Clones, and Favorites Only
HIDE: Casino, Electr.Mech., Mature, Not Clas., Quiz, and Tabletop

I have a full rom-set and I'm trying to filter all the systems, computers, etc. basically everything that's not an actual game.
My filters are set to show Available Roms and I've and hidden the entire set of "Hide" filters and I'm still seeing a bunch of
systems.
I've tried going into the xmlout and changing "hidden=False" to True but mgalaxy wouldn't boot up, and I had to make a new database.

There are a few roms where I'd prefer the clone over the parent (hack/cheats) so is there some way to remove specific roms?
Not showing parent or clones wouldn't work in this situation since it depends on the game.
