MGalaxy loses most of the games in the list.

mGalaxy loses nothing and this is certainly not a bug!
You're telling it by yourself: 'insert coin'  triggers #5...but #5 is the default shortcut to 'Only show favorites (on/off)'! You know understand that each time you insert a coin you're actually switching the view of the games list (do show favorites games only/show every games)!!
So, it's just a matter of changing the key shortcut either on your coin door or mGalaxy!

MGalaxy loses most of the games in the list, if you insert a coin without a game selected. It seems the only way to repair this is to reinstall MGalaxy and re setup the correct paths. Nothing is missing from the roms folder, or mame. Is there any way to bypass this, or have MGalaxy ignore inserted coins (#5), until there is a game selected and running?
