Hello all...

I just stumbled onto this front end and I really like the clean design. I currently use maximus arcade, but I the fact that its no longer updated has pushed me to look for a new frontend.

One thing I am looking for is the ability to possibly display marquees, Control panels, in addition to the screen caps. The following site has  a great collection of all sorts of arcade images that may be useful in the fronted.

http://www.progettosnaps.net/mameui_en

Any updates on version 4.0? I would love to become a beta tester and provide some feedback.

Thanks,

Flash

Please support my favorite zx spectrum emulator: "Klive"
It can be downloaded at
http://www.worldofspectrum.org/emulators.html
It does not have fast loading of .tap files by decision of the author but you can increase speed emulation while loading.

But there will be a button in mGalaxy Runway to quickly import/export your datas

I'm urgently looking for people willing to help me by testing each emulator AND giving me a report back.
All my time is devoted to the v4.0 development and need some help to write tutorials for each emulators.
Those "A to Z" tutorials will be part of the mGalaxy website to help users configure their respective emulator.
Example:
1. Download your emulator at www.tested-emulator.com
2. Run it standalone at first, to get a .ini file created.
3. Open this .ini file with your text reader, change that line to let the emulator run in full screen, change that other line to mask the interface.
4. Configure the users key that way: ...
5. ...

You get the idea?
A "A to Z" tutorial to allow every future users to get their emulator working in a short time!

If you're interested, send me a mail at info@mgalaxy.com, I will send you a brief tutorial to help you adapt the command line which is sent by mGalaxy to the emulator (for those emulators that seems to refuse to open with the command line sent by the v4.0 beta)

Thanks for helping me make mGalaxy a simple and friendly frontend! :)

Hi, I´m with rash, to add the posibility of remove splash screen is necessary for those we have the frontend running in a cabinet and want to keep the real arcade experience.

I meant to add options on/off splash screen logo and not completely remove them. In the case of file extensions for example, I have 20 games on the PSX with the 10 in *.ISO and 10 in *.BIN. If I set the bin size is mGalaxy_Runway I will have seen only 10 games not 20 :(. I Know you can convert images or change in mGalaxy_Runway extension but is not the point. I have a small detail that annoys me namely, the image of a mini arcade cabinet (MAME) is a control panel for left-handed player :P

- added option to mGalaxy Runway / OTHERS / remove splash screen logo
 - when choosing "PS1" (psx or PSone) Rom Ext. add all the file
 extension iso, bin, img because every game can have images in various
 formats and need to convert.
 - add a new button to change the system / emulator seems to me to be a
 better option. Arrows system selection should be orange border. This
 menu is not very clear through it.
 - adding a SEGA GENESIS emulator system
 "HazeMD32Fx"http://mame32fx.altervista.org/hazemd32fx.htmI think the
 best emulator SG. UI is similar to MAME
 - added option to mGalaxy Runway / OTHERS / all systems on one of the
 same list of games
- add windows game support

Don't think the splash screen should be removed. Hence, let the people now what a good frontend is about to load. ;)
Regarding the extensions, you can do it already manually as I described above. Same process applies for PS1 or any other emulator.
Windows game support would be awesome, as I too mentioned it already in my first post. I have to disagree with your statement "add a new button to change the system". The way emulator selection works now is just fine and adding any more buttons (or combination) would needlessly make things complicate for users. I think we don't need to use the whole keyboard to control the frontend - too much hassle. mGalaxy controls shouldn't become a "flight simulator" having every button for every little thing. ;)

cheers

Hi there. At the beginning I would like to thank you for introducing
 me to the beta test mGalaxy 4 :).

 My suggestions for the project:
 - added option to mGalaxy Runway / OTHERS / remove splash screen logo
 - when choosing "PS1" (psx or PSone) Rom Ext. add all the file
 extension iso, bin, img because every game can have images in various
 formats and need to convert.
 - add a new button to change the system / emulator seems to me to be a
 better option. Arrows system selection should be orange border. This
 menu is not very clear through it.
 - adding a SEGA GENESIS emulator system
 "HazeMD32Fx"http://mame32fx.altervista.org/hazemd32fx.htmI think the
 best emulator SG. UI is similar to MAME
 - added option to mGalaxy Runway / OTHERS / all systems on one of the
 same list of games
- add windows game support

 That's all for now I had little time to test the project, I hope that
 my suggestions will be considered for an appeal soon :)

mGalaxy 4.0 (beta)
« Reply #1 on: November 18, 2012, 05:25:41 PM »
I'm opening a new topic regarding the beta version of mGalaxy... currently 4.0.

OK, tonight I took the time to test the new beta of mGalaxy. I must admit I'm pretty damn
amazed how feature packed this version has become compared to the 3.0.

Configuring mGalaxy was a breeze. Just remember to run mGalaxy_Runway.exe before you start the frontend itself. Everything is quite straight forward except the fact that there's no possibility to choose another extension besides .zip . I know that this was intentionally left for us beta testers to find out :). So if any of you guys struggle to find the solution just head to your %appdata%/mGalaxy and open the file called Systems.xml. Scroll to the options that are related to your selected emulator. There you will find something like:
<Ext selected="1">
      <Suf id="0" value=".zip" />
    </Ext>

Just add the following  <Suf id="1" value=".7z" /> (change ".7z" to your roms extension, leave the quotes) so it looks like this:

<Ext selected="1">
      <Suf id="0" value=".zip" />
      <Suf id="1" value=".7z" />
    </Ext>

Remember, if you want to add multiple file extensions, every next row has to have the id part changed to a next number (autovalue)
Save the file, open the mGalaxy_Runway.exe and the extension should be visible for you... you're ready to go ;)  The same can be applied to any emulator.

* thing to consider before the full release: Maybe it would be useful to ask the user whether to run the mGalaxy_Runway.exe after the installer finishes.

For now I tested mGalaxy with MAME only but feature tests with various platforms will be carried out ASAP.

Another thing to consider for the final version is to add the ability to run a windows shortcut or executable file. I think this is "a must" considering mGalaxy is now opened to other emus. For example, I have many windows - native classic remakes of games like Karate Champ, Space invaders which are remakes built to run natively on windows or any other arcade game worth taking your time ;) Anyways... it would be very convenient to run them directly from mGalaxy. The remakes can be found here:
http://www.classic-retro-games.com/games-list.php
http://retroremakes.com/nostalgia/

About the snap files... you can find MAME snaps here : http://www.mameui.info/
These are perfectly synced with rom files.

Peace
Alan
