Title: Show Gamename at other Emus
Post by: Stefan on May 22, 2013, 06:52:50 AM
Maybe this is possible for 4.2. to get a XML or other Config File for every Emu,
that no show full Gamenames, example: SEGA Model 2 show only Rom-Name.

<list>
<romname>srally</romname><fullname>Sega Rally</fullname>
...
</list>

or a simple config File

srally=Sega Rally
example=Example Game
...

I'm OK with that idea...the problem is:
1) which (existing) XML system to adopt (or config file), because I don't have time enough to manage all those systems!
2) that requires for all users to have unified rom lists to the XML/config file: every user should have the roms named accordingly to the XML/config file and I'm not sure that "ordinary" mGalaxy user want to invest time in it (?!).

a possible Way:

show_names.txt

In this file are the self defined names:
srally=Sega Rally
...

mGalaxy.exe do check, if this File avaialbe, not = Show normal Filelist,
yes = Show Names from File

Invest Time, i think is not the Problem, for me it is cleaner to show the Full Names,
as example, i have only about 10 Games at Sega Model 2, and i will be happy, if i can
read "Sega Rally" and "House of the Dead", ...

Most of the Emus not need that Solution, but i will love that option, to "create" at some my own Names.

As said before, I'm Ok with that feature...but I will wait for other user's idea on the subject, so that we can work with an unified methods for all systems.
I think, for example, to Commodore 64 users (using the Gamebase romset)  that would like it too...but for more than 20000 games!
It seems important to me to have, one for all, a global approach on how this file would be structured to manage all systems (and if it would be possible to have such a list for each systems..and if yes, who would work on it!)
