Possible, you have an error message with something about "Problem Signature 04:   mscorlib"

If it s that make a look here http://www.mgalaxy.com/forum/index.php?topic=269.0 (http://www.mgalaxy.com/forum/index.php?topic=269.0)

Yes. I get:

  Problem Event Name:   CLR20r3
  Problem Signature 01:   mgalaxy.exe
  Problem Signature 02:   4.1.0.0
  Problem Signature 03:   51558c6d
  Problem Signature 04:   mscorlib

I've read the thread you indicated. I'm not sure I understand, is it because I don't have Windows Media Player?

I have the same problem specially installed the new Windows 7 x32bit and new versions mgalaxy 4.2beta and the program is not responding: (this error has already reported the mail (the kind of Megaman at the screen's game is ugly).

You have the bug with the 4.2 beta and not the 4.1 ?

Muser, you don't have Windows media player ? I had this bug in trying to unistall it ^^.

Try this method http://www.personalcomputerfixes.com/general-errors/how-to-fix-clr20r3-error/ (http://www.personalcomputerfixes.com/general-errors/how-to-fix-clr20r3-error/)

I have found this too

Quote
Check Your System Language Settings

Sometimes you can receive the CLR20r3 error when an application is causing a conflict with your system language settings. For example, when you are trying to run a program that uses non-Unicode fonts on a system that uses Unicode fonts. When this is the case, changing your system’s settings for programs that don’t support Unicode. You can do this by going to the Control Panel, selecting Regional Settings and going to the Advanced tab. Change the language to English and click OK. Reboot your computer for the changes to take effect.

And pls, write the other "problem signature" the application developper need them to localise the bug >> http://mrpfister.com/programming/demystifying-clr20r3-error-messages/ (http://mrpfister.com/programming/demystifying-clr20r3-error-messages/) Good luck at him :) .

I turned WMP on from "Programs and Features". Mgalaxy started working.
And just to be sure I turned WMP off again. Mgalaxy crashed.

Interesting feature...

Lol.

I think the dev use a WMP librairy, so the application can't work without WMP.

You're right Aeliss mGalaxy uses MediaPlayer library for Music and Video reproduction.
This problem shouldn't raise with v4.2: this library is joined to the application.

Nice, good idea, no need to put that in whishlist ^^.
I happy to see I m not the only one who hate WMP enought to try to unistall it :).

Lol, poor mGalaxy ^^.
Really strange, and it s the same WMP version ? No special addon on one of them ? I never tried WMP so I don't really know this application.

Video codec ?

It s the same message than this one ?

Have you tried with a new mGalaxy install ? Now it 's a portable application it s easy, just rename your folder "mgalaxy2" and re-instal it on an other folder".
Don't make the new instal on the same directory.

I'm afraid that, indeed, it's coming from a hardware piece on your PC.
I've no report of that kind from other users, I myself test mGalaxy on many different systems...and you can see that it works on another "similar" PC (as you reported).
It could come from your graphic card, check that you've the latest driver installed...and if it's possible you could even try to momentary switch the graphic cards between your 2 PC and see what it gives!?

Hello

The cabinet i've built is a small version with a ITX mainboard.
The graphic card is onboard and it has the latest driver.
I like mgalaxy so mutch that i try to install a second graphic card, if this not work i go for a new
main board .
This depents on the space i have in the cabinet.
I let you know

Thanks for you support regards galle

 :(

Galle,
1) You told me that you had another computer of the same type...where mGalaxy was working nicely!
Is it a miniITX to? Same motherboard, same memory...same everything?
If not what are the differences, please?

2) This is the first time that you write that mGalaxy_Runway refused to open!
Was it the case since that you are using v5.0?

3) Please try to find the 3 files we were talking about lately. You surely didn't find them cause they are in a hidden folder. Please follow those steps to have access to the files:
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/show-hidden-files#show-hidden-files=windows-vista

Hello

Wel the hardware is differnd  but the software is the same in the first place i've used same windows 7 in dutch language. The advise i've read in the forum that the language could be a isseu! Than i installed win 7 eng language! Than it could be the wmp so i first update wmp after no succes is tryed to upgrade the wmp all without result. Than i've  had 2 test versions of mgalaxy so i saw the 3 messages that is couln't find.
After this i tryed windows 8.1 also without result. Than i thought it could be hardware so i bought a new video card also no result.
The last action is a new copie of runway first it was refused by windows 8.1 beause it had no publisher than i overuled this and i get runway started in a white screen.
I try a fesh insstall of mgalaxy to get the the 3 messages so i can send them to you (windows 8.1)
If i won't see the messages i go back to windows 7 eng.

So, you mean that this time it opened...but with no data inside (contrary to the other times where it simply crashed) ?
Did you extract it in the mGalaxy folder? You can't use mGalaxy_Runway outside of the mGalaxy main folder. Please retry!

hinokata,

Do you get an error in both mGalaxy and mGalaxy_Runway?
If yes, would you please test the mGalaxy_Runway version that I've posted here:
http://www.mgalaxy.com/forum/index.php?topic=367.msg1582#msg1582

copy/paste it in the mGalaxy folder and give it a try please.

No, the Runway application runs with no issues. I configured everything there (pointing out my rom paths, exe paths, built databases, etc). I didn't run into the issue until I tried starting the main application.

If you point me to your repo I'll check out the project and build it locally.....unless the reason I don't see links to the source is because it's not open sourced, in which cause I guess I'll just wait. :)

I have VS 2012 installed, so I might be able to lend you a hand (assuming you did it in C++ or C#, can't do VB to save my life  :D)

hinokata,

I took time to have a deeper look at the logs you sent me...but can't see (properly speaking) and error message!
Was there an actual error message?

I attached a more complete debug dump. This should highlight the issues for you. Without seeing the source, I can only guess as to the root of the problem, but my initial guess would be there is either invalid XML or it can't find the file to parse the XML from.

It appears to be blowing up in the constructor of mgalaxy. If course, this is simply a guess on my part based on the debug output.

I haven't see that before but It s not the same bug that us.
Usually was mscorlib that cause this bug and for you it s  SharpDX.XInput.

You have all the directX version installed ?

I have win seven with directX 11 but I need to install direct X 9 too for some game, I don't know why but it seem DirectX9 isn't included in dx11.

galle,

First of all, check that you can see the "SharpDX.XInput.dll" file properly installed in the mGalaxy folder.

You might then install DirectX 9.0c
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?displaylang=en&id=35

Windows 7 & 8 does not come with ALL DirectX files for some reason!!
This might, I hope, solve your problem!
