Can you give some more information?

What is the emulator you are trying to get to work with mGalaxy?

Have you used mGalaxy runway to point to this emulator and set the rom path?

Make sure the "Activated" box in runway is enabled.

Hi,

Tks for your reply.

I used mGalaxy Runway to put MAME. Save and exit.

After this, I started mGalaxy but the program don´t start. Today I move mGalaxy to another machine with Windows 7 Ultimate N 32bit edition but same problem.

When I "double-click" mGalaxy it won´t start.

In event log. The .NET crashes.

My computers:
Intel NUC 4gb RAM 500gb HDD
Windows 7 Ultimate N 32bit

Intel NUC 4gb RAM 500gb HDD
Windows 7 Ultimate N 64bit

I'm affraid that it might be a windows write authorization problem!
Would you please move your mGalaxy application folder out of Program Files (x86)' folder (let's say at the root level of c: !)

Hello,

Thanks for the reply and for the help.

I´m installed the mGalaxy at (root):

c:\mGalaxy

Attachment included.

And still not work, same problem  :(.

I also tested in 4 machines, same install folder, same config, after the install the results:
 :( - 2 Intel NUC -> W7 Ultimate N 32bit and 64bit --> mGalaxy don´t start.
 :( - Samsung i3 Notebook -> W8 Pro 64bit -> mGalaxy don´t start
 :) - Samsung Core2Duo Notebook -> W7 Home Premium 32bit -> mGalaxy start

But I need to run it in Intel NUC.

I´m a .Net programmer also. Did you compile to run in both environment (32bit and 64 bit). Can you distribute a installer in 32bit and 64bit separate ?

It seems to be ocurring a not handled exception when it starts.

May you try to launch mGalaxy with 'Run as administrator' option !?

Hello

Yes, I also tried to run "as admistrator" and same problem. The program always crashes and log the events in Event Log. I tried everything, including test in different machines. The software works only in a machine that already have .Net 2010 Premium Ediition installed.

And is not a isolated case, because it crashes in Win8 Pro 64bit, Win7 64bit, Win3264bit. The difference between these machines is only a existence of a Visual Net 2010  Premium installed in one of these 4 machines.

I also reinstalled .Net Framework too.

Can you please distribute another version ? I´m sure that is a bug in source code.

I have the .Net programming language here, if you can distribute the source coide, I can compile here and see what happen.

I will wait your contact.

Hi

Good news !  :) ;)

The mGalaxy ".exe" file at XAML.zip worked in my "Win7 Ultimate N 32bit".

I will test the other file at x64.zip.

I will post here.

What was the error ?

Hello again,

Great news ! :)

I tested the "mGalaxy.exe" on "x64.zip" (in a isolated folder, just unzipped the x64.zip and double-click the ".exe") and now it runs on my Windows 8 64bit.  :)

But...  :'(

I did another test too.

I did a clean installation of the mGalaxy Setup and replaced the ".exe" by these present that you sent me, but in this case unfortunately did not run. This also happened with the existing file on "xaml.zip" when I tested on Win7 Ultimate N 32bit. Regarding the test that I have informed the previous post.

But I think you found the problem. I believe that creating a new installation package the problem will be solved.

I will wait you contact ...

And thanks for your help.

Glad to hear that you can run mGalaxy now...but please simplify my debugging work:
test both versions on ALL your computer, not a version on your 32bit PC and the other on another PC

So, if you don't mind, test the "x64" version on all your PC's and report then test the "XAML" version on all your PC's and report.

Thanks!!

1) INTEL NUC with Windows 7 Ultimate N 32bit
2) INTEL NUC with Windows 7 Ultimate N 64bit
3) i3-Notebook Samsung with Windows 8 Pro 64bit
4) Core2Duo-Notebook Samsung with Windows 7 Home Premium 32bit

So, result of tests:

1) INTEL NUC with Windows 7 Ultimate N 32bit
 :)XAML - OK
:'(X64 - Error (see attachment) -> do not run because machine is 32bit (warning message)

2) INTEL NUC with Windows 7 Ultimate N 64bit
 :)XAML - OK
:'(X64 - Error (see attachment) - it runs but, after start, it crashes

3) i3-Notebook Samsung with Windows 8 Pro 64bit
 :)XAML - OK
:'(X64 - Error (see attachment) - it runs but, after start, it crashes

4) Core2Duo-Notebook Samsung with Windows 7 Home Premium 32bit
 :)XAML - OK
:'(X64 - Error (see attachment) -> do not run because machine is 32bit (warning message)

In next post I will send the evidences of the XAML. The tool from the forum allow only 4 attachments.

Title: Re: mGalaxy don´t start in Windows 7 Ultimate
Post by: mgalaxy on October 18, 2014, 09:50:06 AM
The only application that has been working is a version of mGalaxy with no write access to the mGalaxy folder!! (the "XAML" version) !!
Since the beginning, I'm thinking of a file write permission error...but the error occurs even if you move the application folder out of the "Program Files" windows folder...so I'm a little bit surprised!!

Another thing, just to be sure: could you please download and install this DirectX drivers
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=8109

then test again all the 4 versions (the "original" one, the one called "x64", the one calles "XAML", the one called "FileWritePermission". Please keep all those version on your disk untill we can sort out the problem...thanks!!

Could you please take a screenshot of the Security settings for the mGalaxy folder (inside or outside of program files folder) ?
Right Click on the folder > Properties > Security
Take a screenshot for each users please

Sorry to insist: you're sure that running mGalaxy "as administrator" doesn't work ?

Hi,

This version of DirectX was already installed on all PCs but installed again.

I took a picture of permissions for each user. On all machines are the same permissions.

I ran with the "run as administrator" option but it always gives the same problem.

Try to see if the error is in this event:

mGalaxy.MainWindow.MainWindow_KeyDown

After the program is started, when I press one "key" (in this case I pressed the key "left"), the program crashes.

Post by: mgalaxy on October 20, 2014, 12:03:38 PM
?? I thought that the program was crashing directly !!
Are you telling me that mGalaxy loads then crash if you press a key?
Title: Re: mGalaxy don´t start in Windows 7 Ultimate

It start, and finally crash.

I discovered today that when I push any key it crashes.

Post by: mgalaxy on October 20, 2014, 05:01:36 PM
I absolutely need to know what is exactly happening!
Untill now I thought that mGalaxy won't even start and that you got an error message before seing the mGalaxy interface.
Now, you tellme that it crashes if you press a key (so, you see the interface?)
Please explain me clearly what's happening.

There is no error with a keydown event...this is surely just a "cascading" error coming from a prior error.
All your log error since the beginning are:
Exception Info: System.Windows.Markup.XamlParseException

The real problem is coming from here..and indeed, on the version I've sent you (named "XAML") I've worked on that part and you told me that it was working!!

Please try to tell me, step by step, what's happening on screen when you run mGalaxy.
I have one solution left to try to fix this XAML error, I'll work on it on next days

Could you try installing this:
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=8328
...and see if that works better?

Sorry to ask you all that...and this is surely not ended ;-) ..but that's really difficult to understand what's happening with your PC's (even if I greatly suspect a file in/out error!!)
Title: Re: mGalaxy don´t start in Windows 7 Ultimate

Hi,

I understand you.

For me is also being hard to understand what is happening. At first I had thought that the program was stopping right after it starts. But is not it.

The program starts, the interface appears and when I press a key it stops responding and finally crashes. I only find this out yesterday.

I not sure if I have the SP1 of MSVC++ 2010  installed. I will check and install it today, at night.

The keydown event of mainwindow has a "try-catch" block ?

I checked the event log and could see that some exception occurs in Keydown event. At this point, I ran the application and waited. The application showed the interface and became active. I waited a moment longer. Still active. Finally I pressed a key. At that moment the application crashed.

Ok..could you try with that version...there's indeed a few try/catch block inside ;-)
(If you get an error, simply press Ctrl-C to copy the error message in the clipboard)

The full error:

The given key was not present in the dictionary.

System.Collections.Generic.Keynotfoundexception "The given key was not present in the dictionary.

at System.Collection.Generic.Dictionary2.get_Item(TKey key)
at mGalaxy.MainWindow.MainWindow_KeyDown(Object sender,
KeyEventArgs keyData) in C:\Users\imd_000\Desktop\TryCatcherrors\TestWPF\MainWindow.xaml.vbline 215

I tried to upload the image with the error, but the server says the "upload folder is full - contact administrator".

Please let me know when the upload folder is empty to I upload the image with the error.

I also installed the MSVC2010 SP1, but always get this error.
Title: Re: mGalaxy don´t start in Windows 7 Ultimate
Post by: mgalaxy on October 22, 2014, 04:57:48 AM
I was wondering why you first got a first type of error (file write authorization)...then another type of error (keypress error)!
I now understand what's happening: while trying to help you, I've sent you "special" versions of mGalaxy...but based on the last version (not yet out) I'm working on.
Yet this version is including new key based settings !!

So, we are to start again from the beginning ;-)
Chances are that all you've updated from the beginning (Framework,..) has resolved your problem (I hope so ;-) )...so let's begin by this: would you please un-install mGalaxy, then install it with the installer I join here!?

http://www.mgalaxy.com/other/mGalaxy_Setup.exe

If you get an error, we'll always start from that version you are going to install, you'll have to drop "special" versions that might follow in that folder.

Sorry for the delay.

Finally !

Now is working, the program is giving no exception.

Is opening and remained stable in all machines !

I also tested some emulators, like Sega Genesis Kega Fusion, Stella for Atari 2600. I´m trying to test MESS for Atari 5200.

Glad to hear that you get it working..with the regular mGalaxy installer!!  ;)

Set up various emulators today. Not all yet, but I will one by one . This machine Intel NUC will be a gaming machine with the mGalaxy Front End.

You will provide some new setup program ?
