Title: WiiMote at Bluetooth with MAME or other Emus ?
Post by: Stefan on June 17, 2013, 01:51:10 AM
Hi all,

i have connect my WiiMote on Bluetooth with PC (Arcade Cab),
Anyone have try this to play MAME games with Wiimote ?

It should be possible to play "Pole Position" with Wiimote and turn it left - right (as in Mario Kart),
as a real steering wheel ?

I havent tried yet but go to http://glovepie.org/glovepie_download.php (http://glovepie.org/glovepie_download.php)
With this application you can find somes scripts to use your wiimote as a mouse, so easier to configure in Mame or other emulator.

Ok, yes, i allready have this GLOVEPIE ... it works really nice, and i can move my Mousecursor with the WiiMote  8)
But there are no reaction on, example: MAME
My first Project is to play Pole Position with WiiMote hold and turn left and right to steer the car.
At the Moment i have not tried at other Emus, but i think, there is the "same" Problem.

Maybe here we must take a second application, so here the question: Anyone use WiiMote on PC and Emus ?

Ha yes I remember now, MAME uses RawInput instead of DirectInput, so now Xpadder too don't work with it.

But you can try with other emulator, all emulators that work with xpadder will work too with glovepie.

I have see lot of tutorials with people that use wiimote to control their media center.

Hi Aeliss,
Hi all,

now i play OPERATION WOLF or TERMINATOR 2 - the Lightgun Games with
a simple WiiMote on PC !

All run fine at Mame Plus, Version must be under 0.107 ...

More infos here:

Great ! You have a Wiimote, and love MAME ? Try it ... !

Nice ^^.
I m waiting for the complete kit, normally i will have it monday.
Give me some days to make the try.
But i think this method works only for 1 wiimote (not multiplayer because windows can't support 2 mouse).
I have see some tutorials with glovepie and ppjoy.

But for the moment  I m waiting. What IR sensor and bleutooth receptor have you choose ?

My way for the solution was many days ;-)

First, the IR Sensor Bar, i take this:
http://www.amazon.de/Nintendo-Wii-Wireless-Sensor-black/dp/B001135IEI

For the Bluetooth Adapter, or maybe inside Bluetooth, this must, i think, 2.1 down-compatible.
I use a "Hama Nano" ... before, my inside Bluetooth doesnt work (btw. but Dolphin only, yes ... crazy),
i found this useful page:
http://wiibrew.org/wiki/List_of_Working_Bluetooth_Devices

ToDo: You must connect Wiiremote full with Bluetooth Adapter, and see the "green BT Icon" in Systray!
(Doubleclick BT in Systray, press F5 for Search, on Wiimote Press 1+2 some sec., then click on "connect")

I has give a try for GlovePie and PPJoy, but now i use (i think the easyer): WiiNremote:
http://onakasuita.org/wii/index-e.html

A short info for ToDos at WiiNremote is here too:
http://www.hyperspin-fe.com/forum/archive/index.php/t-11745.html
( after that config, you can press at wiiremote "home" = Change between PC MOUSE / Wiiremote "Mouse" )

Then, as you say right, there are different between Direct X and Rawinput, so i use MamePlus 1.06,
and some Mame Games ( Operation Wolf, Terminator 2, Jurassic Park, ...), after some "try and error" - they run !  :D

Here are older versions: http://afterburners.fc2web.com/replay/mameplus

atm. i has tried with 1 wiiremote only, but i think, on dolphin, here you can use more !

i hope you can understand my english  8)

OK  8) now, at last 1 ToDo: How can i play Pole Position with Wiimote and steering left/right ?  ;)

Nice its working, and it s fantastic ^^.

ATM  I m trying for 2 players mode. I haven't found solution without PPjoy :(
And I have some difficulties to calibrate the IR sensor to be as realistic as possible, It s lke for WII, not possible to play without graphical sight. Fun for house of dead but horrible for duck hunt.

Now  i m searching for auto pairing, usefull for frontend.

atm i use mameplus 0.101 and i can play very good: Alien 3, Jurassic Park, Line of Fire, Operation Wolf and Terminator 2

sure, the solution with a wiimote and sensorbar is not real a "laserpointer feeling", but it works very nice for a selfmade arcade  :D

2 player i have never tried, i will test it next days too ...
( 2 player at dolphin = yes, working ! )

Not tried dolphin yet, this week with resident evil, dark chronicles.

Bur for mame, it s ok now, all gunlight game works with 2 wiimotes, already 4 games finished with my GF.
I use a special script By Carl Kenner with 5DOF Tracking with somes modifications to have all the buttons working.
An x64 version of ppjoy without the test mode obligatory on seven "PPJoySetup-0.8.4.5-early-release.exe" I don't remeber where i have found it but i can send it if you don't find it, lot of fake for this file.
And now I m working on an autoit script to pair 2 wiimotes without using keyboard.

No possible calibration IR receptor in mame, mame use its own sight based on analogic mouse/joystick values. But with ppjoy wiimote are considered like joystick so you can calibrate them using the seven joystick configuration tool itself.

yes, callibration not possible, that is bad, but i am happy with wiinmote and i can "aim" at mameplus ...  ;D

your solutions sounds good, tell me if you have finish your works ...

but, a script for all buttons working, at mame ?
i use "only" B to shoot and A to ... load or something, you need all ?

btw. for lightgun gaming, my wiiremote is in a zapper, i am G  ;) (house of the dead)

I use trigger, reload and Insert coin/start (somes games have special weapon like bombs). I play with my machine in the couch/sofa, i never touch the keyboard.

The glovepie script i use is special (look for it on google) with an autorelaod for exemple, but with only 1 button : trigger (not reload because the auto-reload)

A modified version for all buttons http://pastebin.com/qUN3sXqw (http://pastebin.com/qUN3sXqw) but you can modify too inertia, rolling, sensibility, a really great script, but I haven't understand all the script ^^

I have some problem to have the Wii rom i need :( , so not tried dolphin yet.

Mame works fine, so now i work on Demul for naomi and atomiswave, maze of king, house of dead 2, ect ... But this emulator is just a beta for me, totally unusable without autoit.

This Week End I have tried the new taito X rom, Silent hill Arcade  (http://insertmorecoins.wordpress.com/2014/02/11/nueva-release-jugable-silent-hill-the-arcade-actualizado-videos-con-sonido/) and like usual lot of problem with (Glovepie // ppjoy // Bluesoleil) so I have find a new method with Wiimouse // Vjoy.

This method is more in date. You need
Wiimouse >> http://home.exetel.com.au/amurgshere/wiimouse.phtml
Vjoy >> http://headsoft.com.au/index.php?category=vjoy

And no much, all applications works fine on Win 7 x64, you can use the Windows driver for bluetooth.
The configuration is easy to understand.

There is just a problem, to use vjoy you need to put vjoy.dll in the same directory than wiimouse, but the dll not working for me, if you have the same problem, download the vjoy sdk in the same page, inside you will find 2 dll called vjoy32.dll and vjoy64.dll, just rename the good dll vjoy.dll and put it in the same directory than wiimouse (vjoy32.dll for me).

If all is ok you will read in wiimouse screen.
Code: [Select]
Joystick Mode
-using headsoft vjoy

And if you use the x360 wrapper you can use your wiimote like a Xbox 360 controller.
